Tanjung Emas Customs were managed to thwart the smuggling of methamphetamine with a gross total of 1149 grams brought by a woman with the initials WB at Ahmad Yani International Airport Semarang.

On Sunday, July 1, 2018, at 15:30 pm, located at the Arrival Terminal of Ahmad Yani International Airport Semarang. Tanjung Emas Customs officers managed to proceed a woman with initials WB (22 years), a Thai citizen who is a passenger of Silk Air aircraft with flight number MI-104 WIB for Singapore-Semarang route.

Based on the passenger profiling analysis, there is a suspicious behavior towards the passenger. After passing the x-ray examination, the Customs Officer conducted an in-depth examination of the WB’s belongings. From the interview, WB is a singer and this is her first time she traveled to Semarang for shopping. In the interview process, The officers have problems because WB cannot speak Indonesian or English.

From the results of the in-depth examination, there was found 1 (one) clear crystal packet alleged methamphetamine hidden in the backpack (false compartment) brought WB. Furthermore, the initial test using the narco-test kit (NIK) was done and it was continued with the examination by Tanjung Emas Customs Laboratory with the positive results methamphetamine with the total gross 1149 grams.

Upon these findings, officers took the WB to the Tanjung Emas Customs Office for further inspection and the customs  officers with the team of National Provincial Narcotics Board (BNNP) Central Java held a control delivery.

On the case of 1149 grams of Crystal Meth, the suspect is charged with Narcotics Article by maximum threat of capital punishment or life imprisonment.
